Christmas 2012

From the Gospel of Luke (and the lips of Linus from Peanuts):

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Wishing my readers a joyous and merry Christmas.

Thanksgiving 2012

On this Thanksgiving I want to take a break from my regular posts and practice an attitude of gratitude. This has been a difficult year professionally, which has made things a little stressful at home.

That being said, I have a lot for which to be grateful. I have my health. The whole family is gathered around at the Oregon Coast for a Thanksgiving weekend celebration — something I find wonderful. I have a special and always positive spouse. We have a nice home and a cat that is back to using her litterbox. The latter cannot be overstated! The job that has made my life so difficult in 2012 does pay the bills, and regardless of how it feels, I’m not stuck there. Good things are coming. I prefer to see struggles right now as blips on the radar.

How about you? What are you thankful for today and this year? Whatever those things are, may you and your family have a happy Thanksgiving!
