Aria Goes to the Museum

Last Christmas Aria received a year membership at the Portland Children’s Museum. It’s a fun place to take her about once a month to play in a pretend grocery store, veterinarian office and construction dig site. She loves the waterworks, too. It’s a good thing they have waterproof smocks and air dryers:

There are plenty of other things to do at the museum, and the video highlights only some of the exhibits. It’s going to be a fun year!

Easter Egg Huntin’ 2016

Aria went on her first Easter egg hunt this year. Lee Farms does such a great job with the event. Kids go out by age group and choose 12 empty plastic eggs. For the little kids there are hundreds of eggs lying around everywhere on the lawn, so there is no pressure to be fast. The plastic eggs are then redeemed at the prize tent for stickers, candy and little toys. Aria had a good time:

You may wonder why a backhoe is featured in the video. Aria is obsessed with them and gets excited every time we drive past one at a construction site. Funny kid!

Portland Timbers – 2015 MLS Champions

Hey, Portland Timbers, we salute you! As a long-time soccer fan, it has been a joy to celebrate the Timbers’ first Major League Soccer championship over the last week. Portland defeated the Columbus Crew 2-1 on December 6 to win the MLS Cup.

Since then, the team has celebrated with fans at the Portland Airport, in downtown during a victory parade on Broadway, and at a special championship rally at Providence Park that drew 9,000 supporters on a wet Tuesday night:

Soccer City, U.S.A. does celebrations right! I loved being at the rally with a couple of soccer buddies and shooting the event for my personal 2015 season scrapbook. It was a magical run, and while the season is long…the off-season is short. Training camp starts in late January for the 2016 campaign. Let’s do this again next year!
