Portland Timbers – 2015 MLS Champions

Hey, Portland Timbers, we salute you! As a long-time soccer fan, it has been a joy to celebrate the Timbers’ first Major League Soccer championship over the last week. Portland defeated the Columbus Crew 2-1 on December 6 to win the MLS Cup.

Since then, the team has celebrated with fans at the Portland Airport, in downtown during a victory parade on Broadway, and at a special championship rally at Providence Park that drew 9,000 supporters on a wet Tuesday night:

Soccer City, U.S.A. does celebrations right! I loved being at the rally with a couple of soccer buddies and shooting the event for my personal 2015 season scrapbook. It was a magical run, and while the season is long…the off-season is short. Training camp starts in late January for the 2016 campaign. Let’s do this again next year!

Cousins On the Farm

The girls had a chance to get together for the first time since last spring. They’ve grown up a bit since then!

It’s amusing to see their personalities really show in this latest video. Claire is demure, and Aria idles at a high rate. Our families met at Bauman Farms in Oregon’s Willamette Valley:

All that fun led to good naps. The kids will spend more time together at the holidays.

Aria Goes to the Farm

This time of year there are farms all over the outskirts of Portland, Oregon that have fall festivals and pumpkin patches. One of our favorites to visit is Lee Farms. We took our young daughter there in 2014, but she wasn’t walking at that point. She also wasn’t particularly interested in the trip.

What a difference a year makes:

No pumpkins were harmed in this production. (At least not badly!) Looks like trips to the farm will be a family tradition…
